Welcome to Year 1

Over the year, the children will discover what makes themselves, their community and their world so wonderful.

In the Autumn Term, the children will explore their family history and begin to develop a sense of identity. They will consider the talents that make them special and will think about how they can use these to serve their school community.

As we progress into spring, the children will learn about God’s wonderful world and, through the theme of stewardship, will explore why it is our responsibility to care for our environment and protect our planet. They will think about the importance of keeping their bodies healthy and will consider lifestyle changes they can make in order to be healthy and safe.

Children end their year considering how to use their unique gifts and talents to benefit and enhance their school, their local community and the wider world.
