Early Years Foundation Stage
A very warm welcome to Reception, especially to those families who are joining our St. Dunstan’s school family. This year, the children will learn all of the expectations and routines of being part of a class family. They will learn to share and take turns fairly, developing the resilience to solve problems independently, and how to persevere when faced with a challenge.
Our learning begins by thinking about ourselves and our local community, including people who are special or important to us. We then explore comparisons between our own geography and the climates of other countries. Focusing on some particular creatures that live in our wider world, including chickens and bees, children are encouraged and supported to take responsibility for God’s creations.
The children end the year as confident and happy individuals who have all the skills ready to take on further learning in Year 1 and beyond.
