Year Group Overviews and Rationale

Each year group curriculum has a thread which ties together the learning over the year.  It helps bring meaning to the learning as well as promoting compassionate thinking; action not just empathy.

The overview summarises the learning for each curriculum subject over the year.

The rationale shares how we will tie the learning for the half term together.

Curriculum enrichment:

“All pupils, including disadvantaged pupils and pupils with SEND, take part in a rich range of activities, such as public speaking, sports clubs, charity work or a visit to the Houses of Parliament to better understand how democracy works.” OFSTED 2020 

We enrich the curriculum learning that takes place in the classroom through providing opportunities to make links to our community and other places that provide quality learning experiences. Each year group will organise a range of activities such as a trip, local visit and visitors to add inspiration and provide a real context for learning.

Additionally, we offer a wide and varied extra-curricular programme led primarily by the teaching staff with additional external providers to ensure children can try new activities and build skills and confidence.
